Heroes of Newerth (HoN) is an action real-time strategy science fantasy video game developed by S2 Games for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The game was heavily inspired by the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne custom map Defense of the Ancients and is S2 Games' first action RTS title.[sup][2][/sup] The game was released on May 12, 2010 and re-released as a free-to-play game on July 29, 2011.[sup][3][/sup] Heroes of Newerth runs on the Windows, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems.[sup][4][/sup]
