How to pvt someone who is not in any channel

Command to private message someone who is not in any channel.

As far as I know:

You can use the syntax -  /msg nickname message

Eg : /msg nins Hello!

 

This won't work if that user has set mode +c

Which would mean that you need to be in the same channel as that person to pvt them.

/PRIVMSG [target] [text]
 
Sends a message to a user or channel specified in [target].

Thats how to send message, but if you are using an irc client then try /q  nick or /query nick to open a private window.

If these commands does not work, then only choice is the /privmsg command.
