What are fossils in OSRS and how are they used in the game?

In Old School RuneScape (OSRS), fossils are collectible items obtained primarily from the Fossil Island area. Players can acquire them through activities such as Volcanic Mine, Sulliuscep chopping, and exploring tar swamp areas. Fossils come in various sizes—small, medium, large, and rare—and serve multiple purposes. The main use of fossils is to complete exhibits in the Varrock Museum. By doing this, players gain Kudos, a special museum currency required to unlock content like the Bone Voyage quest and to access new parts of Fossil Island. Additionally, players can use fossils to create enriched bones, which grant Prayer experience when buried. Fossils not only enhance a player's knowledge of the game’s lore but also reward them with experience and game progression opportunities, making them valuable for both skilling and exploration.
