There are few things I would like to say.
1. Most of us are from icq, when these folks who we call ops left the server we all wished they come back and take care of the spam/abuse/trolls. And on contrary your on a server created by same folks and now u happen to question them for being so strict with security.
2. They have put many man hours into setting up, you must be knowing this. So end of the day they are professionals and committed folks and they sure don't want people to leave. But ur statement meant as if they were knocking off people's freedom. Comparison of professionalism/commitment to fear/afraid isn't correct in my sense. Many servers are coming up and there is competition it isn't just at librairc u find the this concern, I chat at some other serves too where this kind of filters exist, for I have witness people getting banned for a post. I felt that was just professional way to deal with unwanted stuff and provide a secure environment to chat. And it is same in here also.
They aren't afraid, they are concerned. Let's support and encourage them.
