On/ Off feature to hide/unhide a channel's main room messages
#1
Hello. I am a user of  the chat website http://indiachat.com/flash.php
thanks to the good service of LibraIRC.

I have a requirement in the main room of any channel as I had a discussion with Sicilia who attended me in #help channel.
and as per advice, I am posting this in front of you.

In short:
When I log in to any channel, I see public messages of all users , join & leaving notification of users in the main room of the channel. My req. is to have feature to a clean main room w/o any messages there.

Detail:
when i am in a channel, other people are talking in the main channel room
meaning i am able see to their messages.. publicly.. and this scrolls up automatically..also join/ quit messages also appear..
I don't want to see others' messages right in there.
i want to suppress main messages..
i don't want to view those which are not relevant to me. (Why should I read the messages between two 3rd persons?)

as a solution  i dont want to ignore users using /ignore theirnick also. (because it will prevent them to pvt msging)

For example, when I am talking to some1 in pvt in the channel.. for about 20 mins, during the time all main messages scroll up a lot and it is all unnecessary to me.  (so at least I need to  turn the messages off for 20 mins)

I require an On/ Off method in each main of each channel to hide/ unhide such messages.

3 reasons why I need this on/ off feature are:
1) these messages are not important to me - so I don't want
2) sometimes distracting me when scrolling up faster and cannot follow it
3) each msg comes from server to my PC which means data traffic and also surfing cost.

Thanks. Cheran, TN, India.

Hi Cheran,
well the site you are joining from is run and managed by the owner of the #india channel so we cant really do much about his chat site, however we do have a solution to your  problems if you wish to use it. If you go to  http://librairc.net and choose " lounge" or the" kiwi irc client" both of them have parts/quits msgs disabling options,
for disabling whole channel msgs you would need to do /mode urnick +d and when u want msgs back just do -d
You would of course then have to type /join #india to join the channel your wanting to be in.

Hope this helps you Smile

Hello, thank you. /mode +d , -d works well and this serves well. But the problem persists in another interface. I give you 2 screens here. Capture1 has the interface that does not allow me to use /mode +d option. (you can see reason in the screen). Give a solution to me.
Capture2 has the interface that allowed me properly as you said.
(This +d option is required when some bots flood in messages..in the main) . Thank you again.

note: #lounge or #india is not a matter.

screens attached.. thanks.

What did you type to get the errors in first screenshot? It looks like you tried change room modes not user modes.
The other screenshot you had +/-d properly.
