Do I need an account?
No. Pick a nickname in any web client or IRC app and start chatting. Register only if you want to keep your nickname — see the guide.
I forgot my NickServ password
Run /msg NickServ RESETPASS yournick your@email.example and follow the e-mail. If you no longer have that e-mail address, ask in #help.
My nickname is taken
If it is your registered nickname, use /msg NickServ RECOVER yournick yourpassword. If someone else registered it, choose another nickname.
Which web client should I use?
New to IRC? Start with KiwiIRC. On a slow connection or an old phone, try gamja. All clients reach the same channels — see the full list.
I can't connect / I'm banned
Read the message you get on connect — DNSBL messages link to the blocklist’s own lookup page. If you think it is a mistake, contact us via the helpdesk. See also the network rules.
Can other people see my IP address?
No. Other users see a hidden host. Only the IRC servers see your real address. Details are on the privacy page.
How do I start my own channel?
Join any unused name, e.g. /join #mychannel, then register it with ChanServ — the guide has the commands.
How do I become a channel operator or helper?
Open a ticket at the helpdesk and choose the chanop or helpop application. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you would help.
