The short version
Be kind, do not abuse the network, and follow what channel operators ask in their own channels. Staff may remove anyone who makes LibraIRC worse for others.
Network rules
- No spam or flooding. No unsolicited advertising, mass messages, invites or repeated text — in channels or private messages.
- No harassment. No threats, hate speech, doxxing, stalking or targeting people for who they are.
- No illegal content. Do not share or request illegal material, malware or stolen data. Content that sexualises minors is reported and banned on sight.
- No attacks on the network. No denial-of-service, exploits, scanning, or attempts to break services or other users' connections.
- Bots and clones need permission. Ask staff before connecting bots or more than a few connections from one person.
- No ban evasion. If you are banned from a channel or the network, do not reconnect around it — appeal instead.
- Do not impersonate staff or other users, and do not misuse services (for example registering nicknames to block others).
Channels
Channel owners and operators set the rules for their own rooms, as long as they follow the network rules. Network staff do not interfere in normal channel moderation, but will act on network rule violations anywhere.
Bans & DNSBL
We only ban real spammers and attackers. Connections from addresses listed on well-known abuse blocklists (DNSBLs) may be refused; the message you see links to the list's own lookup page so you can check and request removal there.
Appeals & contact
Think a ban or decision was a mistake? Open a ticket at the helpdesk or ask in #help from another connection. Please include the time and the ban message you received.
