LibraIRC

Privacy

What we collect, what we don't, and why. Last updated: November 2026.

Summary

LibraIRC is run by volunteers. We collect as little as possible, we do not sell or share data for advertising, and this website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party trackers.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no external fonts or scripts — everything is served from librairc.net.
  • If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent to us.
  • The live status on this site comes from status.librairc.net, which only publishes whether our servers and web clients are online.
  • The embedded chat on the home page only loads when you click "Start chatting here".
  • Like any web server, our hosting may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page) for security.

On IRC

  • Your IP address is seen by our IRC servers — including when you use one of our web clients, which forward it so that abuse can be handled fairly. Other users see a hidden host instead.
  • Private messages are not logged by the network.
  • Registered accounts store your nickname, a hashed password, your e-mail address and settings you choose (such as certificate fingerprints). The e-mail address is only used for account confirmation, password resets and memo notifications.
  • Connecting addresses may be checked against public abuse blocklists (DNSBLs).
  • Web clients do not keep guest sessions or chat history on our servers.

Your choices

You can use LibraIRC without an account. To delete a registered nickname run /msg NickServ DROP yournick and follow the confirmation step, or ask staff via the helpdesk for help with any data request.
