Godie the only reason people were annoyed we used a global message was because it let everyone know our server, and for others to let their server be know they had to use flood/spamming methods. We done it a few times and not on a daily basis where it was stopping people chatting, I believe there is a difference. And if we stopped being IRCops there is not is not your concern, the point is we were given permission to do it from icq.
Had we not been able to set global messages we still would not have spammed, and we were telling people who were chatting on our server also not to spam. We spent years banning spam so we were not going to encourage users to do it elsewhere. Anyone you see spamming our server its off their own back and we know nothing about it.
And no other servers do not allow it. Some of the IRCops on that other server were spamming as well, sending memos to people etc, now you can think that should be allowed all you like but no we wont allow it .We have given plenty warnings about people spamming other NetWorks on the forums and by global messages, to try and stop people being glined needlessely.
