Ok, I'm not an ircop, but there are a few things to point out here...
No, but when in-depth conversations of religion occur, they can often lead to arguments (same as politics). So if people want to discuss/debate/argue religion, they can do so in a separate room where all the users know what they're getting into.
We do ban people for excessive or abusive swearing.
You must not have been paying attention. Sadly this occurs too frequently and it is always something we ban for.
Yes, that is still what will occur in the main rooms, but now there is also the option of a room where people can go if they want to discuss religion at length and in detail.
