Nick Stories

[Jadok]

I often ask other chatters how they chose their nicks.  I have gotten a variety of responses, some of them quite interesting. Some common themes include...

1. "It is my real name."
2. "I always liked the name."
3. "Sounds cool."
4. "I got it from _______"(name of book or movie).

For me personally, "Jadok" was a way of being truthful in who I am as it is derived from my real first, middle and last names, yet it also "sounds" kinda cool. I have used many other nicks to try them out, but this is the one that really stuck.

Anyone else care to share their stories?

Mine is reaaaaaaaaaaaly too long and i had too many nicks when i was chatter tho lol kinda liked to be collecting the good names 
Anyway one day a close frined and i got into betting as watch nicknames and channels that are close to drop and catch them, so we started it and got phoenix, devil etc and the bet was getting bit fighting to catch them lol
And then as we talk and search names i ended up name immortal and found its just being identified never used so time to watch it huh!
29 days not used.. oh time to make some setups to get the nick to win the bet! So i had to make some coding to use the nickname and not let it to be taken by friend
And then i wake up, see my friend being flooding my client to dc me to grap the nick hehe it did not work and bet ended with the nick as well, here i am..

My Story - When I was first on Irc - #Gays, Icq - I was much younger and very new to computing. The system I had wasn't the greatest and one if the few sites it would load without taking months (old dial up) was from a South American university about Egyptian history - 

This was it, I was set as RamsesIII, ^Akhenaton^ and occasionally for fun Neffertiti.

It stuck.

well i had many nicks also over the years , First nick ever was CujoF ( not after the stephen king dog) but after my fave goalie Curtis Joseph it was his nick, second nick was this nick StealthBabe, a good friend of mine named me this and it stuck , then i had the nick BlackPanther, my fave animal other then tigers and butterflys , then the nick SaTaNsSpawn , everyone kept calling me a devil etc , then last but not least St0rMy`EyEz.... my eyes change colors of blue , and sometimes they glisten like im crying but im not actually crying , so kinda like storms , storms can change from light to heavy storm and always have rain , so my eyes are kinda like a storm.

Well, I have two presently, Matrix and MJS

When i first arrived on ICQ and started in #gays it was mark16 (first name and age) then it moved to ^Matrix^ until I finally managed to obtain the Matrix without the ^^ when i was about 19. Matrix of course I used cos of the film and I kinda liked it but oddly enough its NOT one of my favourite films (Like some people seem to think). Stuck with it till now although I have to admit I was on the verge of changing it to Reacher which is actually the surname of Jack Reacher a fictional character who is the brainchild of writer Lee Childs and I read his books.

The MJS some of you may already know is actually my real name initials, a few people on here actually know my real name and I generally use it as my clone nick

OMG! MJS was my mothers initials, hope Mark is NOT me Mum she has been dead the last 30 years

redbulls was my first nickname i used in 1994 when i stumbled in to a #Help room looking for help on Lotus123 ( a crap suite of software)
why ? because at the time i bred Red cattle and they were No.1 in my opinion,, yeah right so red1 started because i kept getting redballs ,which they are not !!
Then i used roman numeral to make it red[I], it became my op nick when i became a regular chatter and has remained so.
i was using ICQ with the nick redi to communicate with other cattle breeders around the world.

My first nick was Sw|tchB|ade when i came on ICQ and mostly chatted in lfl and romance , switch stands for the switch in me from being an arrogant ass in work and a humourfull lad in privat, blade as it is sharp so can be my words sometimes thats why the nick switchblade, also is switchy just coz people named me like that and my other nick atm is Ho|oGraM as i am there but not real lol.

I've had a few nicks... My first ever one was ^Julianna when I chatted in ICQ #LFL and #20_something and this is a derivation of my real name.  Then it became LilMermaid because i'm only 5 ft'2 in. and I can't swim.  

I do have alternative nicks that I have used over the years and for different purposes --- Ethereal (because I feel like I belong in a different world & I use this for a very specific reason), Apocalypse (a doomsday-ish gamer nick) and Jellofish (I love jello and this is when I am in a playful/goofy mood more than my usual well-behaved & borderline-angelic self.)

Do I really need to explain? Sicilia is my favourite place in the world,the Magical Sunny Island I was born in, I have had this nick since I first joined ICQ and kept it since, it will never change, also Ev|L^|rCoP because people are convinced I am soft hearted but ask any member of the team, especially other IRCops and they'll tell you I'm not such a softie, I can be as evil as my nick suggests, as for my Clone nick? NoNe Of Your Business   I am NOT going to reveal that

Omg Knight_Errant, I know you'd love for me to be Greek, I think most know it but face it, I am a Sicilian and yes Sicilia is in italian, Sicily in english and for your information Mr Smartassssssssss the traditional name of the island is Trinacria which means Triangle as in the shape of the actual Island, now put this in that thick head of yours I am not Greek and you can put any wikipedia you like to prove otherwise lol

Funny how the Athenians conquered Sicily when in fact they were allies before that. Hmmm?    I'm sure you know how that whole thing ended by Year 404, Knight_Errant.

started delivering newspapers when i was 13
made 2000 bucks and bought a first pc with 540 mb harddisk
had to put in the sound card myself wich made me nerveus for the first time looked so fragile

Started playing a game Unreal Tournament and needed a nick i chose rechargeable then
when i was 20 moved out of the house to the big city a few days cycling with a tent on my back.
then mymom gave me a real nomad tent (i miss that tent dragged it all the way to berlin once)

when the field flooded and my tent was blank the lady gave me a caravn to live in
because i was a skir student i couldn´t afford electricity so lived with oil burnes for some time
for heat and light *
i switched fast to candles because the oil burners would produce alot of smoke !

when i was 25 i ended up in a house with a yugoslave
and was thinking to visit egypt or buy a pc ?
i bought a pc and remembered icq


then i chose bluesman but i figured to be more friendly i could be panda !
but alot of kids pvt me sla sla sla all the time
so added mr

i was on freenode for a while
and had the nick tekisui
my friend was a panda too and she said keep it
now panda has a name

tekisui means ¨drop of water in japanese¨
it´s a story of a monk who filled his masters baththub and spilled the last water
the master got mad
and the monkey changed his name

I first came online back in 1994 onto OzOrg, first nick I had was Pajero (a 4wd here and i wont mention what it means in spanish, japs revenge on us aussies lol) as I had just bought one back then, well after getting divorced, my ex ended up with it (damm I miss it, the paj I mean, not my ex) so I needed another nick, was in shed oneday thinking and I happened to look at my chainsaw, a Husqvarna, and I became Husqy, well after a few yrs I decided, dont like this nick anymore, had no idea on what to use, a friend once said to me when i came into the room, here comes Trouble with a capital T, so that stuck for yrs. sadly someone grabbed the nick on old icq so i had the ^ after nick till they let it expire. the nick Mal Function came from an article in a local paper yrs ago, about a poet, he had a bar set up in his shed with a dummy sitting at the bar so he wouldnt be drinking alone,, yeah u can guess its name,, Mal Function , ok so im named after a dummy lol
