Once you authenticate yourself as a student with your student email address (or another way of authentication, I used my .edu email address), you are able to get free software... notably development tools and the Windows Server operating systems to fool around with... (At least from my account) there are no free downloads for desktop Windows operating systems (Like Windows 7 or 8)
